Wisconsin Biotechnology and Medical Device Association (WBMA) is now BioForward
A new name that reflects our ongoing efforts to advance biotechnology in Wisconsin
For more than two decades, our organization has worked diligently to meet the evolving needs of the Wisconsin biotechnology industry.
What started as a partnership between a small group of emerging biotechnology companies in 1987-and expanded to include medical device manufacturers in 2002-has become a powerful, multi-industry association of nearly 300 member organizations; one that's dedicated to creating synergistic partnerships that support and nurture biotechnological advances of every kind, and that works proactively to meet the changing needs of our constituents.
Recognizing the growth of our members and the industry, as well as our evolving role, we felt that it was time for a new name and tagline that better capture who we are and what we're working to provide for our members and for the state of Wisconsin.
The result is BioForward: Where innovation & opportunity connect for Wisconsin
We believe this combination communicates important messages about our association including:

- Focus on networking
- Drive to understand what our members need and how we can best provide it
- Desire to support biotechnology partners of all types
- Our contributions to promoting the Wisconsin biotechnology industry across the state and around the world
